The OPTO S-100 kits are used by electric utilities to add optical communications capability to existing "older design" electronic meters. The kits can be installed in the field using only a screwdriver. The kits allow electric utilities to maintain their installed base of electronic meters by upgrading them to communicate with the newer hand-held meter reading devices.
